neglect: implies giving insufficient attention to something that has a claim to one's care or attention: habitually ~ed his studies.


omit: implies a leaving out of a part of a whole: ~ a verse of a song; or a neglecting entirely: ~ted to remove the telltale fingerprints.  （to leave out除了字面的遗漏忽略外，还表示排除不包括to leave someone or something out of an activity, or group is not to include them in it，如some would question the wisdom of leaving her out of the team有人会质疑把她排除在队伍之外是否明智)


disregard: suggests voluntary inattention: ~ed the wishes of the other members.         （voluntary自愿自发，如志愿兵役制voluntary enlistment，强调自发自愿，因此新闻主播不用新闻语言外交发言人不用外交语言等 “不顾操守，不要廉耻”的行为，用这个词比较合适disregarded the professional ethics and propriety.   propriety人们接受的礼仪，shameless指不受谦虚礼仪等制约克制）


ignore: implies a failure, sometimes deliberate, to regard something obvious: ~d the snide remarks of passersby.  
谚语abstraction is selective ignorance抽象是指有选择的忽略(即不理会)，很精炼，建议背下来    snide讽刺挖苦     deliberate故意是指知道"后果"   （regard泛指关注care and concern如the company acted with no regard for the safety of its workers公司不关心工人安全，如she was hired with no regard to race, age, or gender她被雇用了，不论种族年龄性别）

neglect忽视: 指没有足够注意本应注意的，omit省略: 指略过部分或整体，disregard不顾: 表示自愿不去顾及(不是因为疏忽忘记)，ignore不理会: 指故意不关注明显的东西，overlook忽略未注意到: 表示由于仓促或粗心而没有注意到，slight轻视无视: 指轻蔑地忽视，forget忘掉忘记: 可表示故意忽略，或未能形成印象


记忆方法: 1）首字母NODEIOSF 想成IF NO DOS如果不做<==忽略              dos是do的复数，指要做的事,反义词是don'ts    忽表示不注意不重视，如"克勤克俭，勿怠勿忽"

         2）忽略的意思是掠过不关注mean to pass over without giving due attention.
